Product Overview Kaolin, also known as china clay, is a natural clay composed predominantly of kaolinite. It is used as a ceramic raw material, mineral filler and coating ingredient. Product performance depends on mineral composition, particle-size distribution, brightness, impurity levels and processing. Raw, washed and calcined kaolin have different properties and should be specified according to the intended application. Include requirements for alumina (Al2O3), silica (SiO2), iron oxide (Fe2O3), titanium dioxide (TiO2), moisture and loss on ignition, where applicable. Please provide the required particle-size distribution, brightness or whiteness and acceptable residue. For ceramic applications, include any requirements for fired colour, plasticity and firing performance. For coating and filler applications, include relevant viscosity, dispersion and oil-absorption requirements. Required test methods, inspection and destination-specific requirements should be included so that the proposed material and supporting analysis can be reviewed. Packaging & Supply Please state whether bulk shipment or bagged supply is required. For bagged shipments, specify the preferred bag size, pallet requirements and shipment quantity.
